Creed 2 co-written and co-produced by Stallone with Steven Caple Jr. directing the movie with new visionary angles, especially in the fight scenes.
Michael B. Jordan gives another great performance as Creed. In this movie his life has become a balancing act between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. It’s a classic storyline.
Of course, Ivan Drago who was Rocky’s opponent in Rocky 4 is the family tie to this film as he killed Adonis’s father Apollo in the ring, so it is a battle that is waiting to be fought. Dolph Lundgren comes back to play an older Drago with Florian Munteanu as Drago’s son who brings physicality to the fight scenes. For fans of this genre, it is a very satisfying movie and shows Rocky/ Creed still has legs.

The Rocky films have a feel of their own, and Sylvester Stallone, like it or not is one of the greatest film writers/producers of the century. Why…? because he knows how to entertain and satisfy the audience and make them engage with the characters on the screen. As he gets older, he has had to learn to adapt in some ways but this never seems to slow him down in fact he has become wiser and more honed in his trade.
When the Rocky series finished most us thought Sylvester had hung up his gloves for good then in 2015 came the emergence of Creed which explored a new chapter in the “Rocky” story and reunited director Ryan Coogler with his “Fruitvale Station” star Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed
The first film set the scene with Adonis Johnson (Jordan) who never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. There is no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa. Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo and the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champion is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring. With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title, but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?
One of the great highlights of the first Creed movie is that it is set in England and we see English pro boxer and former three-time ABA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Bellew as boxing champion “Pretty” Ricky Conlan who in this film is the world champion.
