From BJJ superstar to movie screen stardom is all in a days work for Aussie Kit Dale.  

In Iron Sky: The Coming Race the futuristic, fantasy face off between Nazi lizards and the last remaining humans in the galaxy Kit Dale is the well meaning muscle in an epic fight for freedom.  Yes, there is a dark side to the moon, where humankind has sought sanctuary and faces quasi-religious despots, and of course there’s a hidden entrance to a lost energy world ruled by vicious Vril disguised as ex-world leaders and Nazis somewhere near Antarctica.  Kit Dale joins the motley crew who are battling to save humanity and unleashes his energetic brawling, sprawling and suplexing on unsuspecting Nazi dinosaurs at the centre of the earth.  In a quieter moment he reveals he likes his partners big and hairy and that he has a peanut allergy.  Or maybe that is all just fantasy.  Kit didn’t reveal whether it is a coincidence that Nokia phones help save the day in this fantastic film from fine Finnish director Timo Vuorensola. 

Iron Sky-The Coming Race

After several delays, this sequel to the first Iron Sky movie written and directed by Timo Vuorensola is finally coming to DVD and Digital download. This Finnish conspiracy theory fuelled super Science fiction movie, with great effects for the budget, great soundtrack has all the makings of a great cult movie including comedy thrown in for laughs. In addition to that it features BJJ legend and online emissary Kit Dale. Yes, another fighting star getting into action stardom.

This movie is set twenty years after the events of Iron Sky; the former Nazi Moonbase has become the last refuge of humanity. Earth has been devastated by a nuclear war, but buried deep under the wasteland lies a power that could save the last of humanity – or destroy it finally. The truth behind the creation of humankind will be revealed when an old enemy leads our heroes on an adventure into the Hollow Earth. To save humanity they must fight the Vril, an ancient shapeshifting reptilian race and their army of dinosaurs.

In this sequel, the human history is told a new way and history is rewritten a bit like a Doctor Who episode with no pc corrections. In the movie, it tries to make some sense for the story of Adam and Eve, and the film does not bow to any religion, old or new, in addition it moves very rapidly. The acting is great and Udo Kier (Blade) is great in his double role. Despite the low budget it is great to see that Finnish moviemakers can make a Hollywood quality spectacle.

The story flows quite fast and smoothly for a full 90 minutes. Most sets look small but the CGI is great, especially for the budget. Obi is a great new main character and the actress Lara Rossi (Robin Hood) does a great job. Additional characters Donald (Tom Green, (Road Trip) and Malcolm (Kit Dale, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion), slow but kind-hearted muscle man are also good and funny additions. Sasha is great too. The soundtrack by Finnish composer Tuomas Kantelinen is fine but made better with support from Laibach and Sunrise Avenue.

Interest is particularly acute for martial artists and BJJ regulars because Kit Dale has transitioned from his top game rolling around in a gi to finding his acting chops after easily handling the switch from martial mats to the movies. Go Kit Dale.
Iron Sky-The Coming race is a very enjoyable movie, you will have fun watching this film, and it can be considered a great sequel to the original. All people who liked the first film should get this and look forward to what they may find on Mars in The Ark- Iron Sky Movie, which is in post-production now.

Kit Dale Bio

Kit Dale is a Black Belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is Australia’s most decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete of all time. He received his black belt from multi world champion Yuri Simoes in 2013, after training for only 4 years. This puts Kit Dale among the fastest people to ever receive a black belt in BJJ. 

Kit has competed and won competitions at the highest level in Australia, Japan, Abu Dhabi, USA, Brazil, London and many more. He has won competitions at all belts including the Abu Dhabi World Pro held in Abu Dhabi, the Brazilian nationals held in Brazil and the Australian cup held in Australia. He made it to the Quarter Finals in the Mundial World Championships held in LA after two years off with a knee surgery. 

Not only is Kit one of the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu athletes in the world, he is also one of the most in demand coaches and consultants, travelling to over 20 countries teaching seminars and Jiu-jitsu camps. On top of this, he has an online program for Jiu-jitsu which has sold over 10,000 of his instructional videos called “The Art of Learning Jiu Jitsu”.
